Information About Long Point
Long Point is an outdoor paradise. The region is an important location for bird migration in both spring and autumn, including half of the eastern North American Tundra Swan population. It is an outstanding example of sand dune and sand-spit formation in the Great Lakes region. In 1982, Long Point National Wildlife Area was recognized as a wetland of international significance under the Ramsar Convention. It was designated as a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1986.

The theatre is located in the picturesque small town of Port Dover on the north shore of Lake Erie. All performances take place in the historic old town hall. Recent renovations ensure wheelchair accessibility, with a street-level box office, elevator service to the theatre level, and air-conditioned comfort.

This 40-kilometre-long sandy peninsula in Lake Erie is renowned worldwide as an important refuge and stopover point for migrating birds, especially waterfowl. Unique to the country, the delicate nature and varied habitat of the peninsula is recognized as a "biosphere reserve" by the United Nations.
The Trail is an 8 kilometre trail connecting the southern Ontario towns of Simcoe and Port Dover. People using this trail can hike, bike or cross-country ski through a part of the Carolinian forest region. The trail has many types of plants and wildlife that can be enjoyed by all.

Considered a naturalist's paradise, the landscape of Turkey Point is rich in quality and diversity -- from the sandy beach, warm shallow waters and huge marsh areas to great bluffs and lush forests.
The trail, which extends from Windsor to Fort Erie through a region dubbed Ontario's "banana belt", is named after Colonel Thomas Talbot, an early settler and entrepreneur. The relatively mild climate allows tobacco and peanuts to be grown, and Carolinian forests, with trees more associated with the southern United States, to survive.
For nearly 40 years, biologists and visitors at LPBO have studied the birds of the Long Point area. Nearly 370 species of birds have been found at Long Point. When you think of the 600 species that are found throughout North America, Long Point looms large as one of the most exciting places on the continent to observe our rich bird life.
